Family Engagement
Forest Ridge School District 142 offers opportunities for preschool parents/guardians to volunteer in the classroom, attend field trips, and participate in various parent/child centered activities throughout the year because we recognize you as your child's first and most important teacher. In addition, we offer workshops and invite speakers to present on topics which are important to the development of preschool students.
Parents are also encouraged to participate in their child's development through Book Wagon activities, monthly "challenge" activity calendars (see below) and items checked out from our Ridge Lending Library.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. In addition to creating meaningful connections between home and school, these STEM projects provide opportunities to develop vocabulary, higher level thinking skills, inventive and deductive thinking, executive functioning, reasoning skills and much more.
